Ordu is one of the most pleasant stops on the eastern Black Sea coast — a compact city where a cable car climbs Boztepe hill to a panorama of the sea, green hills and the town's distinctive harbour. The city is surrounded by hazelnut orchards that cover every hillside in summer-green terraces.
The Yason Cape lighthouse on its headland east of the city, the Çambaşı plateau for summer highland walks and the Ulugöl nature reserve inland are the province's outdoor highlights.

Boztepe cable car and the hilltop café/park at the summit are the standard experience; the view over the harbour is one of the Black Sea coast's finest. Yason Cape, where the Black Sea's only surviving ancient lighthouse stands, is a dramatic headland with a small Byzantine chapel.
