Uşak gained international attention when its stolen Lydian Treasure (Karun Hazinesi) — gold artefacts looted from royal tombs and sold to the New York Metropolitan Museum — was repatriated to Turkey in 1993. The hoard is now displayed in Uşak's own archaeology museum.
The province's most dramatic natural sight is Ulubey Canyon — one of Turkey's longest canyons — carved by the Ulubey River through golden limestone cliffs. Uşak is also a traditional carpet-weaving centre, with distinctive geometric patterns sold at the local bazaar.
